Who we are

The directors of Thinkers are Martin White, Mark Chitty and Nigel Fenwick. Martin and Nigel first worked together in 1982, troubleshooting problems in a sophisticated electro-chemical machining plant. Martin and Mark worked together at SealedMedia, discovering that their style, skills and experience complement each other superbly. All three have engineering degrees, evidence of the fundamental tenet of the thinkers approach, which is to think first.

Martin White

Martin WhiteMartin has an Engineering degree from Cambridge University. His professional roles have always spanned both technical and business matters. His drive to produce high-quality software started when he led a project to develop a new system for oil exploration which fired dynamite from the keyboard – exhilarating, but not something you can afford to get wrong.

Martin then led the European Technical Services & Consulting team for a leading edge database vendor, working on some of the most advanced software projects in Europe. He moved into Management Consultancy with Coopers & Lybrand, where he worked with clients who were trying to radically improve their business with software as a key ingredient of the change – whether it was software that they bought, developed or sold.

In 2001, Martin joined the Executive Management team of SealedMedia, where he was responsible for Sales & Client Services worldwide. SealedMedia became the leading vendor of Enterprise Information Rights Management Systems, with blue-chip clients in Europe and the USA including 10 of the FTSE-100. Oracle acquired SealedMedia in late 2006. Martin led his team through the transition before leaving to set up thinkers in summer 2007.

Martin is married with two children. He likes running, cycling, sailing, climbing, skiing, rowing - anything outdoors and challenging.

Mark Chitty

Mark ChittyAfter gaining his Engineering degree from Southampton University, Mark worked for a prestigious engineering consultancy before changing direction to produce animations for film and TV commercials.

The combination of creative design and technical discipline is the perfect profile for web-design, so in 1997 as mainstream businesses were beginning to devote large budgets to the internet, he joined the New Media Design team for a large software consultancy where he managed client projects and relationships. In early 2000 Mark seized the internet zeitgeist and became Head of Technology and co-founder of a start-up media company. Subsequently, as an independent consultant, he has been responsible for many web-sites and web-applications.

Mark has strong business analysis skills, and is highly effective in translating business problems into clear technical requirements. He is a user interface expert, and is experienced at architecting enterprise scale systems to meet exacting performance, availability and security requirements.

Mark spent five years with SealedMedia, the leading vendor of Enterprise Information Rights Management Systems, with blue-chip clients in Europe and the USA including 10 of the FTSE-100. Oracle acquired SealedMedia in late 2006. Mark managed the client services team up to the acquisition, leaving to set up thinkers in summer 2007.

Mark is married with two children. He likes travelling with them to interesting and unusual parts of the world. He also composes music late into the night…

Nigel Fenwick

Nigel FenwickNigel has an Engineering degree from Imperial College, London. He enjoyed a successful career in the manufacturing industry, leading projects with an IT dimension across a range of sectors from nuclear power station construction to high volume manufacture and printing. He gained a reputation for making information technology work for the business, which eventually led him to moving into the software industry.

Nigel worked as a consultant from 2000, providing guidance in areas such as IT dispute resolution and due diligence. This expanded his industry experience to include call centres, logistics, online service delivery and pharmaceuticals. More recently, he held direct responsibility for software development and customer support with a healthcare software solution provider.

Nigel has extensive experience in change management and systems implementation. The skills he developed whilst in industry, man-management, project management and information technology have enabled him effectively to bridge the gap between business and software.

Nigel has 3 children and enjoys running, cycling, managing his son’s football team and providing a taxi service for his daughters.
